Ironman began as an annual Men's Conference at the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles. Since then, it has become much more than an event. It is a family. The Ironmen support the men of the URM as they journey through an intense, one year, Christian Life Discipleship Program, and ultimately, as they transition out of the Mission. The men of the CLDP have committed their lives to overcoming homelessness and addiction, and have accepted the love and forgiveness of our Lord and Savior. The Ironman Discipleship program has seen many life long relationships formed as men from both sides of Skid Row grow in Christ together. We are committed to encouraging the marganilized, defending the dignity of the disenfranchised, respecting the rejeted in society, and showing affection for the afflicted. We will carry the torch for our brother Jerry Jenkins.
Jerry not only helped develop Ironman, but was also a founding board member for Deed & Truth, a ministry started to help those experiencing homelessness on Skid Row and at the Union Rescue Mission. Jerry is known as "THE IRON MAN," the "Real Deal," the "Bulldog," and always "All In". He loves the men of the Mission, and has given so much of himself to set the example for future Ironmen. On July 22, 2016, Jerry was called home to be with the Lord. But, his work is not finished, and his legacy is a driving force in each of our hearts. His wife Viviana said, "I don’t believe Jerry’s race is finished. I believe others will pick up the torch and finish his race". We are honored to do just that. We love you Jerry.
“Jerry… We will miss your leadership… We will do our best to inspire others to carry on the ministry you were instrumental in starting. Most of all… I will miss your friendship. I am so very proud of how God used you brother". - Pastor Dan Anderson
After 25 years of serving in Pastoral Ministry, Pastor Dan was called to go “All In” and step in to a full time compassion ministry. God led him from South Orange County to Downtown Los Angeles. A place called “Skid Row”. Pastor Dan has embraced his calling in life and now serves as the Staff Pastor to 175 employees at the Union Rescue Mission and serves as the Director of Strategic Partnerships.
Deed & Truth is a Christian non-profit organization that exists to express the love of Jesus. They partner with existing organizations to compliment their valiant efforts by helping existing programs and create new ways to fill important gaps where God reveals relational, material, and spiritual needs for those who need it most. Deed & Truth sponsors several events and gatherings each month. There is also a Scholarship Fund for URM Graduates. The Ironman Discipleship is proud to support Deed & Truth. Deedandtruth.org/donate
